As the old saying goes, “The young lawyer knows the law, but the old lawyer knows the Judge”.

THE POLICE IN SANTA PAULA ARE OFTEN BRUTAL AND ARE INSTITUTIONALLY DISHONEST.

Santa Paula is a City in Ventura County, California with a population of approximately 31,000 residents.

Santa Paul on the mapp gang posterSanta Paula has an ongoing problem with criminal street gang activity. See, Authorities conduct massive gang sweep in Santa Paula, KABC7 News, April 17, 2015. Due to having to deal with these criminal street gang members in Santa Paula, some Santa Paula Police Department police officers have adopted their own gangster mentality, believe that they are “The Baddest Gang in Town”.Moreover, as a general proposition, if you want to find out who the most violent and creepiest police officer in any given police department, just look for that officer awarded “Officer of the Year”, and you will find that officer; no joke. This is so because they are the most active in making arrests and in using force.

In Santa Paula, the first shooting in 5 years by a Santa Paula Police Department police officer was on April 9, 2017 by then10-year veteran of the SPPD, Matt Alonzo; a well-respected officer known for his being awarded the Medal of Valor by the Police Officers Association of Ventura County and the Santa Paula Police Officers Association 2016 Supervisor of the Year Award recipient.  Notwithstanding those awards for his police work, in 2020 Santa Paula Police Department police officer Matth Alonzo was convicted of Auto Insurance fraud. Policeman shooting his pistolIn that April 9, 2017 Officer Involved Shooting by Matt Alonzo he claims to have shot a man for holding a knife and apparently refusing to drop the same as he approached several Santa Paula police officers, including officer Alonza. Of course, Officer Alonzo either failed to activate his Body Worn Camera, or he / Santa Paula Police Department deleted the video recording of the shooting. See, the Ventura County District Attorney’s Office Report On The April 9, 2017, Shooting Of Jose Romero Gonzalez-Rendon By Santa Paula Police Department Senior Officer Matt Alonzo, p.4.

Of course, the Ventura County District Attorney’s Office found the shooting to be justified; they always find a way to do so. No one ever got elected to public office by promising to protect the public from the police.
