The demographics of the Lake Mathews community is 45.7% Hispanic, with 36.7% White (Non-Hispanic), 6.25% White (Hispanic), 10.6% Black of African-American (Non-Hispanic), 18.9% Other (Hispanic), 16.7% Two Races including Other (Hispanic), 1.99% Asian (Non-Hispanic) and 2.31% Other (Non-Hispanic).
The Lake Mathews Station of the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department is that agency’s newest station. The Lake Mathews Sheriff’s Station covers over roughly 158 square miles of unincorporated territory in Riverside County, including neighboring communities like Temescal Valley and Woodcrest.
There is no specific, dominant local street gang in the Lake Mathews area. Instead, the Lake Matthews region experiences periodic spillover, property crimes, and transient illegal activity managed regionally by law enforcement rather than localized turf-holding cliques. General property type offenses, burglaries, and identity and mail thefts rather than overt, organized street gang warfare are the main reported criminal activities in the Lake Mathews area. Major regional gang-suppression sweeps by state and local law enforcement agencies typically focus closer to Riverside County urban areas, such as Riverside, Corona, or Hemet rather than the rural unincorporated Lake Mathews.

Chad Bianco was elected the Sheriff of Riverside County in the November 6, 2018, and was reelected in 2022. Under his leadership, the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department has become a bastion of police brutality, false arrests and malicious criminal prosecutions. This is not left propaganda. This reality.
There have been intermittent shootings by Riverside County Sheriff’s Department deputy sheriffs in the Lake Matthews area; not nearly as many as in the more populated areas of Riverside. Moreover, Sheriff Chad Bianco’s leadership has resulted in Riverside County Sheriff’s Department being basically let loose on the public to use force as a first option rather than an option of last resort.
When its deputies do use excessive and outrageous force, they routinely falsely arrest their civilian victims for various “resistance offenses”, such as violation of Cal. Penal Code § 69 (resisting officer with force), Cal. Penal Code § 148(a)(1) (resisting/delaying/obstructing an officer), Cal. Penal Code § 240/241 (assault on officer), Cal. Penal Code § 242 / 243(b) & (c) (battery on an officer causing injury) and Cal. Penal Code § 245(c) (assault on officer with weapon). They do this to shift the blame from them to you for their having to use force upon you. In other words, they falsely and maliciously claim that your commission of these “resistance offenses” caused them to have to use force upon you.
Moreover, if you are convicted of some “resistance offense”, then either under the “Doctrine of Collateral Estoppel” or via the “Heck Doctrine“, you are likely to then be precluded from successfully suing the police officers for violation of your constitutional rights.
