THE EAST HEMET NEIGHBORHOOD OF RIVERSIDE COUNTY IS PATROLLED BY THE RIVESIDE COUNTY SHERIFF’S DEPARTMENT.
East Hemet is a census-designated place (CDP) in Riverside County, California, located east of Hemet. East Hemet is in an unincorporated area outside the city limits of Hemet. The population of East Hemet is estimated at 20,000 residents.
The demographics of East Hemet are 73.1% White, 4% Black or African American, 2.6% Asian, 1.3% American Indian and 0.7% Native Hawaiian – 52.8% of the population identify as Hispanic or Latino. Of all households, 64.1% reported speaking English only, while 31.8% reported speaking Spanish only. A total of 16.4% of residents were considered foreign born.
East Hemet sits in a mid-density suburban category. Its C+ crime grade reflects challenges common to communities with an unemployment rate of 8.2% — roughly 2–3 percentage points above the national average — and a poverty rate of 19.3%, which is notably higher than the U.S. median. Research consistently shows a correlation between economic stress indicators like these and elevated property crime rates. By comparison, California communities with unemployment below 5% and poverty rates under 12% typically score in the B range or higher. East Hemet’s median household income of $56,029 also falls below the California state median, which contributes to the overall C+ assessment.
THE RIVERSIDE COUNTY SHERIFF’S DEPARTMENT IS THE “BADDEST GANG IN TOWN”.
When Rudi Guliani became Mayor of New York City and basically lets the NYPD loose on the public, as Al Sharpton said: “Crime is down everywhere in New York except at the NYPD”.
One can almost say the same about Riverside County after Chad Bianco was elected Riverside County Sheriff. Sheriff Bianco has not just let the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department loose on the public in Riverside County; his policies and greatly increased the beatings, tasings, pepper-spraying, shootings, and false arrests and malicious criminal prosecutions of innocent civilians. This is no joke.
When the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department beats-up civilians, that agency has an actual policy to withhold highly exculpatory evidence from the Riverside County District Attorney’s Office, such as the “Supervisor’s Use of Force Memorandum” and the deputy’s “Use of Force Form”. Again, this is no joke.
The Riverside County Sheriff’s Department does this to convict the innocent victims of their brutality for various “resistance offenses” such as violation of Cal. Penal Code § 69 (resisting officer with force), Cal. Penal Code § 148(a)(1) (resisting/delaying/obstructing officer), Cal. Penal Code § 240/241 (assault on officer), Cal. Penal Code § 242 / 243(b) & (c) (battery on officer causing injury) and Cal. Penal Code § 245(c) (assault on officer with weapon).
If those innocent victims of police brutality are then convicted of violation of one of these “resistance offenses”, usually they are now precluded from suing the violating deputies and the County for violating their federal constitutional rights. If you are reading this article, you probably already know that the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department does exactly what is shown above to innocents in Riverside County. That is probably why you are reading this very article.
IF YOU ARE THE VICTIM OF POLICE MISCONDUCT, JERRY L. STEERING CAN HELP YOU ACTUALLY ENFORCE YOUR RIGHTS BY WINNING YOUR CASE.
The only thing that matters when enforcing your rights, is whether you win your case. If you don’t win your case, then you have no rights because you have no way to enforce them.
Just because the police violated your constitutional rights doesn’t mean that you can do anything about it. In order to “do something about it”, to enforce your constitutional rights, it takes a great deal of experience, insights, skill and savvy. You need a unanimous jury of usually 8 jurors to vote in your favor in federal court to win your case. If you mouth-off to the cops or don’t do what the police tell you to do or cuss out the cops, or act like a jerk, one or more of the jurors in your case may not vote for you. That is the reality in which we all live.
