As the old saying goes, “The young lawyer knows the law, but the old lawyer knows the Judge”. THE POLICE IN SAN JACINTO ARE OFTEN BRUTAL AND ARE INSTITUTIONALLY DISHONEST. San Jacinto is a city in Riverside County, California with an estimated population of 45,000. The City of San Jacinto contracts with the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department for its police services, who deploys its deputies to patrol the streets of San Jacinto from its San Jacinto Station located at 60 W. 6th StreetSan Jacinto, California. San Jacinto also is home to the Soboba Casino, a casino owned and operated by the Soboba Band of Luiseño Indians. The Sobobas are sovereign and self-sufficient in community affairs. The Riverside County Sheriff’s Department has a sordid history of gun battles with members of the Soboba Band of Luiseño Indians on the Soboba Indian Reservation. See, Soboba to sue county sheriff after latest killings by deputies, ICT News, May 16, 2018. The situation between the Soboba Band of Luiseño Indians and the government deteriorated to the point where Riverside County Sheriff’s Department deputies and the California Department of Forestry (Cal Fire) would not respond to calls for services on the Soboba Reservation without a Riverside County Sheriff’s Department SWAT team escort. In the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department eventually negotiated a type of “peace treaty” with the Soboba Band of Luiseño Indians. See, Soboba, sheriff negotiate peace after shooting deaths, September 12, 2018. Jerry L. Steering has also won a trials against the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department for the false arrest and use of excessive force upon a 13 year old boy at San Jacinto High School. See, video of school arrest of 13-year-old student. Of course, as usual, the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department and the Riverside County District Attorney’s Office found that all of these Soboba Reservation shootings were justified. In fact the Riverside County District Attorney’s Office always finds shootings of civilians by Riverside County Sheriff’s Department deputies in San Jacinto to be justified, no matter how outrageous those shooting may have been.
