THE POLICE IN INDIAN WELLS ARE BRUTAL, DISHONEST AND HAVE NO PROBLEM FRAMING THEIR BEATING VICTIMS OF RESISTANCE OFFENSES.

The City of Indian Wells, incorporated in 1967, lies in the Coachella Valley area of Riverside County between the Coachella Valley cities of Palm Desert and La Quinta. Indian Wells contracts with the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department for its police services.

One would think that a city like Indian Wells that hosts the sixth-largest tennis tournament in the world, the BNP Paribas Open, at the second largest tennis stadium in the world, would have a fairly sophisticated population, and police who weren’t brutal and dishonest to the core. Unfortunately, that is not so.

Riverside County Sheriff Chad BiancoThe Riverside County Sheriff’s Department has for quite some time been a brutal and dishonest police agency. Even since Sheriff Chad Bianco became the elected Sheriff of Riverside County, his deputies basically have been given carte blanche to commit outrageous acts of brutality and false arrests upon those innocent civilians exercise their federal constitutional right to verbally protest or verbally challenge police actions or orders. See, Houston v. Hill, 482 U.S. 451 (1987)(“The freedom of individuals verbally to oppose or challenge police action without thereby risking arrest is one of the principal characteristics by which we distinguish a free nation from a police state.”)

When innocent citizens verbally protest or verbally challenge the actions or orders of Riverside County Sheriff’s Department deputy sheriffs, they are considered to be in “Contempt of Cop” and are often then beaten or pepper-sprayed or tased for such verbal remonstrance. When that happens, Riverside County Sheriff’s Department deputy sheriffs will always falsely arrest their force victims and will procure their bogus criminal prosecutions for “resistance offenses” such as violation of Cal. Penal Code § 69 (resisting officer with force), Cal. Penal Code § 148(a)(1) (resisting/delaying/obstructing officer), Cal. Penal Code § 240/241 (assault on officer), Cal. Penal Code § 242 / 243(b) & (c) (battery on a officer/causing injury) and Cal. Penal Code § 245(c) (assault on officer with weapon).

This is standard operating procedure for the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department; no joke. They understand that if they convict you for a “resistance offense”, then with few exceptions you are no precluded from successfully suing the County and the deputies for your false arrest and for the excessive force used upon you.
