THE POLICE IN CORONA DEL MAR ARE OFTEN BRUTAL AND ARE INSTITUTIONALLY DISHONEST.

corona del mar newport beach ca 18bCorona del Mar is a seaside neighborhood in the city of Newport Beach, California. Corona del Mar generally consists of all the land on the seaward face of the San Joaquin Hills south of Avocado Avenue to the city limits, as well as the development of Irvine Terrace, just north of Avocado. Corona del Mar is known for its beaches, including include Corona del Mar State Beach as well as Crystal Cove State Park.

Corona del Mar has an estimated population of 12,000 residents and is one of the most expensive neighborhoods in Newport Beach, California. In July 2025 median sale price of a single-family residence in Corona Del Mar was $4,497,500.00. The demographics of Corona del Mar are White 83.7%, Hispanic 6.5%, Black 0.4%, Asian 6.8%, Native American 2.4% and Other 2.4%.

Although not a separate public entity, Corona del Mar has its own representative on the Newport Beach City Council. Corona del Mar is patrolled by the Newport Beach Police Department, a police agency with a long and well-deserved reputation for brutality and dishonesty.

Jerry L. Steering has a long history of suing the Newport Beach Police Department, including the famous Ashley Watts case. See, Newport Beach Falsely Arresting Woman Over a $16 Cab Ride. Jerry L. Steering Obtains $360,000 for Victim Newport Beach pays $360,000 settlement over a $16 cab ride that went awry

Newport Beach sign re alcohol signs tripled 2Every 4th of July, the Newport Beach Police Department sets up a tent on the Newport Peninsula, to basically arrest anyone they can, for any reason that they can think of; lawful or not; no joke. The City designates what they call “Safety Enhancement Zones” (including West Newport/Peninsula) with tripled fines from 12:01 a.m. on July 4 to 3 a.m. on July 5.

They arrest just about anyone who is drinking an alcoholic beverage in these “Safety Zones” for violation of California Penal Code Section 647(f); public intoxication. It is not a crime in the State of California to be drunk in public; only so drunk so that one is basically lying on the sidewalk in a puddle of their own vomit. However, standard never stopped the Newport Beach Police Department for arresting just about anyone who has been drinking.

Rich white people, like the residents of Corona del Mar, generally believe that the police can do no wrong, and almost always back their Newport Beach Police Department, right or wrong. So, if you are in Corona del Mar and are stopped or pulled over by the Newport Beach Police Department, be polite to the officer, shut your mouth and do what the officer tells you to do, and you will probably not get arrested or worse.

IF YOU ARE THE VICTIM OF POLICE MISCONDUCT, JERRY L. STEERING CAN HELP YOU ACTUALLY ENFORCE YOUR RIGHTS BY WINNING YOUR CASE.

Screen Capture from LA ABC 7 Interview of JLS on Jovan Jimenez caseThe only thing that matters when enforcing your rights, is whether you win your case. If you don’t win your case, then you have no rights because you have no way to enforce them.

Just because the police violated your constitutional rights doesn’t mean that you can do anything about it. In order to “do something about it”, to enforce your constitutional rights, it takes a great deal of experience, insights, skill and savvy. You need a unanimous jury of usually 8 jurors to vote in your favor in federal court to win your case. If you mouth-off to the cops or don’t do what the police tell you to do or cuss out the cops, or act like a jerk, one or more of the jurors in your case may not vote for you. That is the reality in which we all live.
