Mr. Steering’s many years of experience and acquired knowledge can help you maximize your chances of actually winning your Police Misconduct Civil Rights case, and winning is the only thing that matters. If you cannot win your Civil Rights Police Misconduct Lawsuit then you have no rights, because you have no way to enforce them, and a right without a remedy in the real world does not exist.

THE POLICE IN CHATSWORTH ARE OFTEN BRUTAL AND ARE INSTITUTIONALLY DISHONEST.

Chatsworth is a suburban neighborhood in Los Angeles, California, in the San Fernando Valley.

Chatsworth has an estimated population of 53,017 residents with the following demographics: White 46.4%, Hispanic 25.8%, Black 6.5%, Asian 15.3%, Native American 0.1%, Other 5.8%.

Although the West San Fernando Valley enjoys a reputation as a quiet area low in crime, it is home to 16 gangs, according to a report produced by the Los Angeles Police Department.

For example in October 2024, federal and local authorities arrested 42 individuals from the SFV  Peckerwoods, a white supremacist street gang operating in the San Fernando Valley, based on a sweeping indictment involving RICO violations, drug trafficking (including fentanyl), firearms offenses, fraud, and more. Because the LAPD has to deal with criminal street gangs in Chatsworth on a daily basis, many of the LAPD officers who patrol the Chatsworth neighborhood have adopted the attitude of “We’re the baddest gang in town”, the LAPD Officers who come into contact with the public often treating law abiding citizens like street gangsters.

When those basically law-abiding citizens are taken aback by being confronted by hostile LAPD Officers, they often then verbally protest or verbally challenge LAPD actions and orders. When that happens, the LAPD officers now deem the law-abiding citizens as being in “Contempt of Cop”. See, The “Contempt of Cop Game”; How Well Can You Play?

LAPD Batting Practice in the ParkWhen the officers deem the law-abiding citizen as being in “Contempt of Cop”, the law-abiding citizen then often gets beaten or tased or pepper-sprayed, and then falsely arrested and maliciously prosecuted.

One might think that the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office might take the side of the innocent law-abiding citizen who was beaten or tased or pepper-sprayed, and then falsely arrested. However, no one ever got elected to public office by promising to protect the public from the police.

Ergo, quite often the innocent law-abiding citizen who was beaten or tased or pepper-sprayed, and then falsely arrested ends up being criminally prosecuted by the District Attorney’s Office or the Los Angeles City Attorney’s Office, that prosecutes misdemeanors in the City of Los Angeles.

Accordingly, the best thing to do if you are stopped by an LAPD Officer in Chatsworth, shut your mouth, do what the LAPD Officer says, and you’ll probably come out okay. Otherwise, get your check book out to write a check to your criminal defense attorney when you are prosecuted for some fabricated resistance offense, such as of Cal. Penal Code § 69 (resisting officer with force), Cal. Penal Code § 148(a)(1) (resisting/delaying/obstructing officer), Cal. Penal Code § 240/241 (assault on officer), Cal. Penal Code § 242 / 243(b) & (c) (battery on officer causing injury) and Cal. Penal Code § 245(c) (assault on officer with weapon).

IF YOU ARE THE VICTIM OF POLICE MISCONDUCT, JERRY L. STEERING CAN HELP YOU ACTUALLY ENFORCE YOUR RIGHTS BY WINNING YOUR CASE.

Screen Capture from LA ABC 7 Interview of JLS on Jovan Jimenez caseThe only thing that matters when enforcing your rights, is whether you win your case. If you don’t win your case, then you have no rights because you have no way to enforce them.

Just because the police violated your constitutional rights doesn’t mean that you can do anything about it. In order to “do something about it”, to enforce your constitutional rights, it takes a great deal of experience, insights, skill and savvy. You need a unanimous jury of usually 8 jurors to vote in your favor in federal court to win your case. If you mouth-off to the cops or don’t do what the police tell you to do or cuss out the cops, or act like a jerk, one or more of the jurors in your case may not vote for you. That is the reality in which we all live.
