Police Misconduct Attorney Jerry L. Steering has been suing the police since 1984 for police brutality, false arrests, malicious criminal prosecutions and First Amendment retaliation cases. Mr. Steering in an Expert and Specialist in suing the police in federal court for constitutional violations in the City of Hesperia, throughout San Bernardino County, and throughout the State of California. Mr. Steering has also sued the government as far away as in federal court in Alabama and in the District of Columbia. Mr. Steering many years of experience and acquired knowledge can help you maximize your chances of actually winning your Police Misconduct Civil Rights case, and winning is the only thing that matters. SHERIFF’S DEPARTMENT DEPUTIES IN THE HIGH DESERT AREA OF SAN BERNARDINO COUNTY ARE BRUTAL AND ROUTINELY FRAME THEIR VICTIMS. The City of Hesperia and other High Desert cities in San Bernardino County contract for their police services with the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department. That agency is still trapped in the Wild Wild West mentality. Deputies in the High Desert area of San Bernardino County are brutal and routinely frame their victims when they beat or tase or pepper-spray them for “resistance offenses”, such as Cal. Penal Code § 69 (felony resisting officer with force), Cal. Penal Code § 148(a)(1) (misdemeanor resisting officer), Cal. Penal Code § 240/241 (misdemeanor assault on officer), Cal. Penal Code § 242 / 243(b) & (c) (misdemeanor battery on a peace officer& causing injury) and Cal. Penal Code § 245(c) (felony assault on peace officer). This is normal. This happens every day. These beatings and false arrest are usually prompted by “Contempt of Cop“; verbal protest or verbal challenge to police orders and action. See, The “Contempt of Cop Game”; How Well Can You Play?. Just ask Francis Pusok, who was beaten by San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department deputy sheriffs when he literally stole a horse and attempted to escape pursuing deputies on horseback. The deputies knew that there was a Sheriff’s Department helicopter over them, but did not realize that there was a local TV station helicopter above the Sheriff’s Department helicopter video recording them being him and literally kicking him in his testicles. was beaten Francis Pusok to get $650K from San Bernardino County in deputy beating For example, Mr. Steering recently obtained $500,000.00 for a truck driver in Apple Valley against San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department deputy sheriff Tyler Loup for his “Contempt of Cop” arrest of Tommy Mark Franks. See, Truck driver gets $500,000 for wrongful arrest by San Bernardino County sheriff’s deputies. San Bernardino Sun, February 7, 2023. Tommy Mark Franks was supposedly arrested by Deputy Loup for refusing to identify himself to Deputy Loup, even though Deputy Loup was holding his driver license and had ran him on his radio for wants and warrants. In reality, the Contempt of Cop arrest of Mr. Franks was prompted by Deputy Loup asking Mr. Franks what he was doing, and Mr. Franks answering “walking”. Deputy Loup didn’t like that wisecrack answer, and took Mr. Franks to jail for making it. Mr. Steering has also had great success in suing the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department since the 1980s. Here are a few of those cases: Morgan v. County of San Bernardino, U.S. Dist. Court, Cent. Dist. of Cal. (Riverside) (1996); Mr. Steering obtained a $714,000.00 settlement following jury verdict for excessive force and false arrest during search warrant execution in Apple Valley, California. Austin v. County of San Bernardino, U.S. District Court, Central District of California. Mr. Steering obtained a $500,000.00 jury verdict for false arrest and excessive force against a San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department deputy sheriff who improvidently pepper-sprayed him and then procured his malicious prosecution for resisting the deputy. In re Jane Doe v. County of San Bernardino, et al., (2008). Mr. Steering obtained a $290,000.00 settlement (prior to filing lawsuit) for sexually motivated mistreatment of arrestee. Aubrey v. County of San Bernardino, et. al, U.S. Dist. Court (LA) 2012. Mr. Steering obtained a $325,000.00 settlement for the use of unreasonable force and for false arrest when a man’s small child made a 911 hang-up call. Jones v. County of San Bernardino, et al.; $170,000.00 U.S. Dist. Court (LA). Mr. Steering obtained settlement for unreasonable seizure of person when Apple Valley deputies arrested a veteran suffering from PTSD for refusing to tell them why he was sitting in a church parking lot and praying. Penny Trent v. County of San Bernardino, et al., Mr. Steering obtained $600,000.00 settlement for unreasonable seizure of person for a Victorville deputy sheriff discharging her pistol in the direction of a domestic violence victim. David Scott v. County of San Bernardino, et al. Mr. Steering obtained a $390,000.00 settlement after winning case on appeal to the United States Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals that involved a San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department deputy sheriff arresting three 13 12 year old girls at their school for giggling when he was lecturing them about “girl drama” at school. Don’t be another one of their victims. Don’t let them get away with it, by getting paid for what the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department did, or are presently doing, to you.
