If you cannot win your Civil Rights Police Misconduct Lawsuit then you have no rights, because you have no way to enforce them, and a right without a remedy in the real world does not exist. THE POLICE IN CHINO ARE OFTEN BRUTAL AND ARE INSTITUTIONALLY DISHONEST. Unlike other San Bernardino County cities, the City of Chino, California has its own police department. That agency has been plagued in recent years with Officer Involved Shootings; some of which were justified and some of which were not. For example, on March 10, 2025 Chino Police Department police officers shot and killed 47-year-old Jose Martinez who apparently committed suicide-by-cop. After an hour-long police pursuit initiated by the report of Martinez’ beating and attempted to kidnap a woman (that was captured on a video recording), and after prolonged attempts to negotiate his surrender, Martinez exited his SUV with his hands in a two-handed shooting position holding his cellphone. The Chino Police Department police officers immediately shot him to death, notwithstanding him only holding a cellphone. See, Video shows tense moments during police chase, shooting in Inland Empire, KABC 7 News, June 3, 2025. However, other Chino Police Department Officer Involved Shootings do not seem so justified. For example, in 2019, an unarmed Fontana man was shot to death by a Sergeant from the Chino Police Department during an incident at a suspected illegal marijuana grow house in Chino. The Chino Police Department also has had to deal with criminal street gangs for many years now. See, The Story Of Chino Sinners RIFA Gang Oldest Hood In Chino, Barrio Tales. Besides police shootings and dealing with criminal street gangs, most of the time that Chino Police Department police officers abuse basically law-abiding civilians is in the context of “Contempt of Cop” situations; when civilians verbally protest or verbally challenge police orders or actions. See, The “Contempt of Cop Game”; How Well Can You Play?, steeringlaw.com. Although verbal protest or verbal challenge of police orders or actions is constitutionally protected conduct (See, City of Houston v. Hill, 482 U.S. 451 (1987)), that doesn’t mean that verbally protesting or verbally challenging Chino Police Department orders or actions won’t get you beaten or tased or pepper-sprayed, and falsely arrested and maliciously prosecuted for doing so. The best advice when you are in Chino and are accosted by a Chino Police Department police officer, shut your mouth and do what the police tell you to do, and you will probably come out of that situation okay. IF YOU ARE THE VICTIM OF POLICE MISCONDUCT, JERRY L. STEERING CAN HELP YOU ACTUALLY ENFORCE YOUR RIGHTS BY WINNING YOUR CASE. The only thing that matters when enforcing your rights, is whether you win your case. If you don’t win your case, then you have no rights because you have no way to enforce them. Just because the police violated your constitutional rights doesn’t mean that you can do anything about it. In order to “do something about it”, to enforce your constitutional rights, it takes a great deal of experience, insights, skill and savvy. You need a unanimous jury of usually 8 jurors to vote in your favor in federal court to win your case. If you mouth-off to the cops or don’t do what the police tell you to do or cuss out the cops, or act like a jerk, one or more of the jurors in your case may not vote for you. That is the reality in which we all live. Mr. Steering’s many years of experience and knowledge in suing the police can help you maximize your chances of winning your Police Misconduct Civil Rights case, and winning is the only thing that matters.
