As the old saying goes, “The young lawyer knows the law, but the old lawyer knows the Judge”.

THE POLICE IN LA QUINTA ARE OFTEN BRUTAL AND ARE INSTITUTIONALLY DISHONEST.

La Quinta, California is a desert resort city in Riverside County, California, United States. Located between Indian Wells and Indio, it is one of the nine cities of the Coachella Valley. The population of La Quinta is approximately 38,000.

Although the La Quinta City Council has elected to create a separate police department for the City of La Quinta, to date the City of La Quinta has contracted its police services with the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department since 1982. The Riverside County Sheriff’s Department deploys the deputy sheriffs who patrol La Quinta out of its La Quinta Station that is located at 78-495 Calle Tampico, La Quinta, California.

Unfortunately, under the leadership of Riverside County Sheriff Chad Bianco has become a brutal and completely dishonest police agency. The shoot first ask questions later is the mentality of the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department.

Today’s police officers take no risk at all to their personal safety. If someone is in a house who they have an arrest warrant for, rather than send a deputy sheriff into the house with a bullet-proof shield or a police canine dog, these days the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department bombs the house with tear gas and flash bang grenades, and if that doesn’t result in the suspect exiting the house, they use their Tac-Cat tank like device to literally bulldoze the house and knock the walls down until the arrest warrant target has no house left to hide inside of. This is no joke. See, Gail Seabra v. County of Riverside, United States District Court Case Number 5:24-cv-02668 JGB (DTB)(one of Mr. Steering’s pending cases where a 75 year old lady’s house was bulldozed by the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department because her nephew would not exit the house).

As recently as January 8, 2025, Riverside County Sheriff’s Department deputies shot a man who tossed a metallic object their way. See, Riverside County Sheriff’s Department Press Release File # TE250080138.

The Riverside County Sheriff’s Department has now pursuant to California state law posted its Deputy Involved Shootings on its website; See Riverside County Sheriff’s Department “Transparency”. If one reviews the many shooting incidents of civilians by the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department, and compare those shootings to the investigation of them on the Riverside County District Attorney’s Office website, you will see that the District Attorney’s Office always justifies the shootings, no matter how unlawful those shootings are. There are 49 Riverside County Sheriff’s Department shooting incident on the Sheriff’s Department’s “Transparency Page”, and all of them were deemed justified by the Sheriff’s Department and the District Attorney’s Office.

Riverside-County-Sheriff-Chad-Bianco-greets-Riverside-County-District-Attorney-Mike-HestrinMoreover, even in the most outrageous cases of beatings of innocents by Riverside County Sheriff’s Department deputy sheriffs, the Riverside County District Attorney’s Office will deliberately prosecute obviously innocent civilian victims of police beatings, tasings, pepper-sprayings and even shootings, for some fabricated “resistance offenses”, to preclude those victims of police outrages from obtaining civil redress in a damages action in federal court. This system is pure evil, and those Deputy District Attorneys of the Riverside County District Attorney’s Office “CAPO” Unit (Crimes Against Peace Officers Unit) should be ashamed of themselves. In reality the Crimes Against Peace Officers Unit is the Crimes By Peace Officers Unit. This is reality. If you are reading this webpage, there is a good chance that you already know this to be true.

To make things worse, the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department deliberately withholds from the Riverside County District Attorney’s Office highly exculpatory evidence, including internal Riverside County Sheriff’s Department that the Sheriff’s Department is legally obligated to provide to the Riverside County District Attorney’s Office under California state law (i.e. Cal. Penal Code § 1054.1) and under the United States Constitution (See, Brady v. Maryland, 373 U.S. 83 (1963) prosecution must disclose exculpatory evidence to criminal defendant even in the absence of a defense request).
