As the old saying goes, “The young lawyer knows the law, but the old lawyer knows the Judge”.

THE POLICE IN THE NEWHALL, SANTA CLARITA AREA ARE BRUTAL AND INSTITUTIONALLY DISHONEST.

Newhall is the southernmost and oldest community in the City of Santa Clarita, California. Prior to the 1987 consolidation of Canyon Country, Saugus, Newhall, and Valencia into the City of Santa Clarita, Newhall was an unincorporated area on Los Angeles County. Newhall was the first permanent town in the Santa Clarita Valley. Newhall and Santa Clarita are patrolled by the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department out of the Santa Clarita Sheriff’s Station, located at 26201 Golden Valley Rd, Santa Clarita, California.

50 Years of Deputy Gangs in LASDThe Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department is a brutal and institutionally dishonest agency.

Many of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department stations are literally run by gangs of deputies, who show their loyalty to the gang like any common street gang; by bearing station tattoos with gruesome images; images indicative of the murderous and otherwise brutal nature of these deputy gangs. Some of these deputy gangs are multi-generational; grandfather, father and son all being members of a particular gang and pledging loyalty to fellow gang members. See, The L.A. County Sheriff’s Deputy-Gang Crisis, The New Yorker, May 30, 2022. See also, Unlawful Conduct of LASD, Los Angeles County Inspector General’s Office.

Although the California Legislature banned deputy gangs at police agencies in California in 2021 with the enactment of Cal. Pen. Code § 13670, nothing has happened at the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department to disband these deadly and violent gangsters with badges. See, Sheriff’s Department announces long-awaited policy banning deputy gangs, Los Angeles Times, September 18, 2024.

LASD Sheriff Robert Luna 2Nonetheless, the public seems to be oblivious to the deputies charged with protecting them being more of a danger to the public than the persons who the deputies are supposed to protect them from.

No one ever got elected to public office in this country by promising to protect the public from the police, and this is the main reason that the deputy gang culture has persisted for several generations within the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department. The other main reason is that most law abiding civilians don’t believe that the deputies are going to mistreat them; that is until they do so. Then they search the internet and find articles like this one.
