As the old saying goes, “The young lawyer knows the law, but the old lawyer knows the Judge”. THE POLICE IN NEEDLES ARE BRUTAL AND INSTITUTIONALLY DISHONEST. Needles is a city in eastern San Bernardino County, California, in the Mojave Desert region of Southern California, Situated on the western banks of the Colorado River. The City of Needles contracts its police services with the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department, that deploys its deputies from the Needles Station located at 1111 Bailey Avenue, Needles, California. That agency is quite brutal and institutionally dishonest. Needles is in one of the most remote places in San Bernardino County. Many of the deputies who are stationed in Needles have been banished there by the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department for various forms of misconduct that the Sheriff’s Department has for one reason or another decided not to justify; no joke. The San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department is so institutionally dishonest, that to this day most of its deputies do not wear Body Worn Camera recording devices. The Sheriff’s Department fought even having any of its deputies being equipped with Body Worn Cameras until late 2023, and when the Sheriff’s Department did finally succumb to political pressures to equip its deputies with the Body Worn Cameras, it only distributed a few such camera to a few of its stations. See, San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department rolls out body-worn cameras in Hesperia, Victorville Daily Press, September 13, 2023. It was not until 2024 that the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department made efforts to equip most of its deputies with the Body Worn Cameras. See, San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department Body Camera and Taser Equipment Project, United States Department of Justice, August 15, 2024. The reason for this resistance by San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department to wearing Body Worn Cameras is simple; without proof of what really happened during its deputies contact with civilians the courts and the juries will only hear one side of the story. Notwithstanding all of the news stories and YouTube / News videos of police outrages that we see in modern America most people who ultimately get to sit on juries in “resistance offense” cases still believe the police version of events, save some hard evidence contradicting the same. These “resistance offense” cases are cases that usually involved deputies / officers wrongfully beating or tasing or pepper-spraying or even shooting innocent civilians, and falsely arresting them and procuring their bogus criminal prosecutions for fabricated violations of Cal. Penal Code § 69 (resisting officer with force), Cal. Penal Code § 148(a)(1) (resisting/delaying/obstructing a officer), Cal. Penal Code § 240/241 (assault on officer), Cal. Penal Code § 242 / 243(b) & (c) (battery on officer causing injury) and Cal. Penal Code § 245(c) (assault on officer with weapon). They almost all arise out of “Contempt of Cop” events with the public. See, The “Contempt of Cop Game”; How Well Can You Play?, steeringlaw. IF YOU ARE THE VICTIM OF POLICE MISCONDUCT, JERRY L.
