JLS in Courtroom cropped 2Police Misconduct Attorney Jerry L. Steering has been suing the police since 1984 for false arrest, police brutality / excessive force, malicious prosecutions and wrongful deaths. Mr. Steering sues state and local police officers in Colton, California and throughout the State of California.

Mr. Steering is an Expert and Specialist in suing the police in federal court, the venue where almost all police misconduct cases get filed and tried.

THE COLTON POLICE DEPARTMENT IS OFTEN A BRUTAL AGENCY, THAT FRAMES ITS VICTIMS.

More and more each week, the U.S. Supreme Court, the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals and the California Appellate Courts allow the police more leeway in using brutal force upon you and arrest you based on less and less evidence. This is done by way of the doctrine of qualified immunity; a perverted doctrine created by the Supreme Court that allows the courts to find that although the police violated your constitutional rights, you still lose your case because not every reasonably well-trained peace officer would have know that the conduct in issue necessarily constituted a constitutional violation. See, A Practical Cure for the Curse of Qualified Immunity (by Jerry L. Steering, Esq.).

Over the past decade, Lexipol has been the Policies and Procedures Manual for most of the police departments and sheriff’s departments in California.

This is problematic, because Lexipol, a private company owned and run by former police officers, constantly allows the police to use more and more force, and more and more leeway in making arrests, making warrantless searches and seizures, and most important, allows for more and more use of force by police officers. The result of the Colton Police Department and other California police agencies using and following Lexipol standards has fundamentally pared-down your constitutional rights in a subtle yet substantial way.
