As the old saying goes, “The young lawyer knows the law, but the old lawyer knows the Judge”.

THE POLICE IN PALMDALE ARE OFTERN BRUTAL AND INSTITUTIONALLY DISHONEST.

On August 24, 1962, Palmdale became the first city in Antelope Valley. Forty-seven years later, in November 2009, voters approved making it a charter city.

Palmdale sheriffs station 2The deputy sheriffs who patrol the City of Palmdale are deployed out of the Palmdale Sheriff’s Station, located at 750 East Avenue Q, PalmdaleCalifornia. Because the City of Palmdale contracts with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department the deputies patrolling Palmdale are often of the brutal, even lethal sort. See, FBI investigating violent incidents by L.A. County deputies in Palmdale and Lancaster, Los Angeles Times, July 14, 2023.

For example, in 2023, Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department deputies who responded to a Domestic Violence call for service in Palmdale. When the male DV suspect approached the deputies holding an “edged object”, they shot and killed him. See, LASD deputies shoot, kill domestic violence suspect in Palmdale, FOX11 News, February 11, 2023.

In another 2023 incident of outrageous misconduct by Palmdale Station Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department deputies, “During what should have been a routine traffic stop last year, a Los Angeles County sheriff’s deputy from the Palmdale station punched a mother in the face while she held her 3-week-old baby in her arms, begging authorities not to take her child.” See, Body-cam footage shows Palmdale sheriff’s deputy punching a woman holding her baby, Los Angeles Times, July 12, 2023. Banditos and Executioners tattoosThese types of unjustified shootings by Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department deputy sheriffs happen frequently due to the existence of deputy gangs at that agency. These station level deputy gangs at the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department not only exist, but reign terror over their respective patrol areas. Some of these deputy gangs actually require a deputy to kill (to execute) a civilian on the job to be admitted to the station gang, such as the East Los Angeles Station “Bandidos” deputy gang, and the Compton Station “Executioners” deputy gang. See, Deputies say gangs exist within Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department, CBS Mornings, Feb 25, 2021. See also, Court Documents Appear to Show Coverup of LA County Sheriff Deputy Gangs,  NBC4 LA, May 27, 2022.

Investigations by the FBI, the California Attorney General’s Office, the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office and the Los Angeles County Office of the Inspector General have all concluding the existence of these brutal and often murderous deputy gangs in the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.

However, nothing has happened to reduce or to even discipline these deputy gangs at the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, even after the California Legislature outlawed any gangs of offices at any California law enforcement agency in 2021 with the enactment of Cal. Pen. Code § 13670.

LASD Sheriff Robert Luna 2The politicians are simply not going to do anything to enforce Cal. Pen. Code § 13670 for two reasons.

First, the Sheriff of Los Angeles County would have to fire 30% of its personnel, and the police unions will not just not let that happen.

Second and more importantly, notwithstanding these revelations that these deputy gangs are more dangerous to the public than the people who the Sheriff’s Department is supposed to be protecting the public from, no one ever got elected to public office in the United States of America by promising to protect the public from the police. The public just assumes that the people who these deputy gangs are beating and shooting are criminals who must have deserved it, and they cannot imagine that these deputy gangs would ever treat them badly; that is until it happens to them.
